Component Procurement

Spur Electron provides specialist engineering expertise to support the selection and procurement of high-reliability (Hi-Rel) electronic components used in demanding space and defence applications.
These components can be highly complex and costly, requiring careful monitoring throughout production and acceptance testing to ensure they meet strict mission requirements.
Spur Electron engineers work closely with customers to review Declared Components Lists (DCL), identifying potential risks and proposing suitable alternatives where necessary. This may include recommending alternative EEE components or qualified manufacturers to ensure reliability and long-term performance.
By identifying potential issues early in the design and verification stages, Spur Electron helps clients reduce project risk, avoid delays and maintain mission reliability throughout the procurement process.

Key procurement services include:

• Dedicated procurement team support

• Component selection advice and technical guidance

• Testing and screening of non-standard components

• PAD preparation and approval management

Programme Management

Spur Electron applies structured programme management to all EEE component procurement and manufacturing contracts. Dedicated programme managers oversee each project from start to completion, ensuring quality standards are met and deliveries remain on schedule and within budget. Clear reporting ensures customers are kept fully informed throughout the contract lifecycle.

Export Regulation Control

Spur Electron manages the full export compliance process for controlled components, including ITAR, EAR and ECCN classifications. From initial licence applications to final approval, the team ensures all export documentation is accurate and submitted on time, helping to prevent delays and maintain programme schedules.

Receiving Inspection & Test

All EEE components received by Spur Electron undergo thorough inspection to ensure compliance with programme requirements. This includes verification of component finishes and materials, as well as additional testing where required. Any non-conformances are managed through the Quality Management System to ensure full traceability and resolution.
